CASHTON LOCK
is Lazer’s other best friend. He is older, taller, and muscular and gorgeous, with broad features and brown skin and hair the color of amber and honey. Lazer has told him he looked like a fox, always ready to start trouble. The difference is Cashton has the body and build to finish anything he starts. Cashton is a brilliant athlete, be it zoccair or crizettes. They are his strengths, but he could play any sport and win. Cashton also has a near genius IQ and his mind gives him logic and drive to invent some brilliant and far too often, some very dangerous things. He’s a little shy around girls and he’s desperate to have a relationship but hasn’t a clue how. He and Lazer are inseparable and share their greatest hopes and darkest secrets. Cashton is caught in the middle of Lazer and Kyla’s budding love between friends. He warns both Lazer and Kyla to be careful about crossing a delicate line, falling in love and ruining perfectly good friendship.
EVVY TINER
A ginger, with flaming red hair and a fiery temper. She’s a tall, lanky splicer; a cross of human and perhaps orangutan and one of Kyla’s best girlfriends. She’s a pretty girl of eighteen whose human genetics dominated everything but her huge, vulnerable, round eyes, cute ears and vicious fanged teeth that show when she’s angry or threatened. Evvy’s a tough Atlantian outlander, tougher than Kyla. She has a few inked tattoos that circled her forearms and weaved between the forest of fine red hairs that seem to grow everywhere. There’s something about Evvy that makes people not want to mess with her, but it;s that same something that made them know, she’s just the person you wanted to watch you backs anytime the situation got rough.
KYLA WINGRIGHT
is one of Lazer’s oldest friend. Kyla is tough, smart, and pretty—almost beautiful, but not quite, not yet. She is a second-generation splicer, with what looks like fine, multiple, flesh-colored marks around her eyes. The delicate markings trace almost imperceptible down her neck and arms and match the flesh wings she tries so hard to keep hidden. Her strange, intricate markings are the only visible sign that she is not all human. Here natural abilities to the Visionistic arts make her even more special. Kyla has been viciously bullied because of her splicer differences, but Lazer has always been there to defend and protect her. Kyla has been in Love with Lazer since the first day they met in the 6th grade. She came to her feeling long before he did and has remained silent, fearful of destroying their friendship. She represses her feelings not suspecting Lazer too is awakening to this wondrous change taking him from friendship into first love. Just when the truth of their mutual attraction blossoms, their world erupts in a series of tragedies as destiny calls with a voice that cannot be ignored. Being part Splicer, Kyla has many natural abilities in energetic field manipulation that fall under the mysterious Visionistic Arts. She too has been accepted to Tosadae as well as every major university. Her single mom is struggling with the hefty tuition, but Kyla insists she’s going where Lazer goes. She hopes things will work out for all the right and the wrong reasons.
COLE “LAZER” LAZERMAN
born in 100 A.Q. (After Quakes) in Vacary, one of the early settlements that populated the risen continent of Atlantia, to Detra and Rand Lazerman. Cole Lazerman, Lazer to his friends and family, is seventeen, handsome, and boyishly charming, with a thick head of dark, rebellious curls. He has piercing electric eyes. There, in the western territories, Lazer grew up in a small, Helium-3 mining town where life was tediously predictable, fraught with bullies, salvaged by best friends and first hint of love. About to turn eighteen-years-old, Lazer wants nothing more than to get off this rock that had risen in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and find his dream as a fighter pilot for the elite Titanium Angels. He had been accepted into Tosadae University, the global equivalent of a futuristic Annapolis on earth’s other risen continent, Mu. The university is constructed in and around magnificent buildings left by earths first inhabitants, the Celians. Lazer got Ace pilot status and an invitation to study the Visionistic Arts under the renowned Masta Poe. Lazer is handsome, smart, aggressive, angry and competitive. Still in high school, his friendship with best friends Cashton and Kyla Wingright has been all that keeps him going each day. Kyla, a local splicer, has suddenly grown into a beautiful young woman and they friendship theaters on the first breath of love. Fate turns on them and brings a series of life changing challenge that might well thwart any chance at love and all hope for joy.
